Nelly

Cornell Haynes a.k.a. Nelly, born in Texas, and later on moved to Spain where he lived for 3 years. Nelly eventually ended up in Missouri in the City of St. Louis where he was surrounded by drugs and gangs.   In 1993 he moved to the suburb of University City with his mom where he became serious about his talent in music, but since St. Louis wasn't very popular in the rap industries, Nelly believed his baseball skills would be his best way to pay the bills, entertaining many offers to play proffessionally. But when Nelly hooked up with the popular St. Louie group St. Lunatics, and gained recognition for their high~selling "Gimme What You Got" Nelly then realized that he had a chance to get St. Louie noticed."St. Louis is like a time bomb waiting to explode"explains 20 year old Nelly." No  one has accomplished much musically."   In the title track, "Country Grammar" Nelly cleverly flips the melody of the childrens song "Down Down Baby......."   I"ve got a style that's all my own.I'm rappin' the blues.I like to think of my music as a jazz form of hip~hop.I don't even know what I'm going to sound like until I hear the beat,"So how does Nelly describe Country Grammar?"St. Louie is a country part of the U.S. and the way we talk, dress, and our actions are all country" explains Nelly." I'm trying to get St. Louie noticed, I don't want the city to be over looked anymore.
